75

70–80 looks the same as the original for most photos.

    How to compress images

Drop your photos onto the box, choose a quality and output format, and each image is compressed on your device in a second or two. Use the before-and-after slider to check the result, then download images one by one or all together as a ZIP.

For websites, 1920 px wide at quality 75 in WebP is a good default. Smaller images load faster, which improves your search ranking and saves visitors’ mobile data.

    Frequently asked questions

    Are my images uploaded?

No. Images are decoded and re-encoded by your own browser. They never leave your device, so private photos and documents stay private.

Which format gives the smallest file?

WebP is usually 25–35% smaller than JPG at the same visual quality and works in every modern browser. Use JPG when a website or app doesn’t accept WebP.

Why did my PNG barely shrink?

PNG is lossless, so re-saving it can’t throw away detail. For photos saved as PNG, convert to JPG or WebP for savings of 70–90%. Keep PNG for logos, screenshots and images with transparency.

Does compressing remove photo location data?

Yes. Re-encoding drops EXIF metadata such as GPS location, camera model and date taken. The photo’s rotation is applied first, so it still appears the right way up.
