Compress Image to 100KB
Reduce any photo to 100KB or less in seconds, at the best quality that fits. Perfect for online forms and portals with a 100KB limit, or any upload with a size limit. Your photos never leave your device.
More options: exact pixels and format
For forms that require, for example, 200 × 230 px. The photo is cropped to fit around its center. Leave empty to keep the original shape.
JPG is accepted everywhere. WebP looks better at the same size but some forms don’t accept it.
How to compress an image to 100KB
- The size is already set to 100KB; change it any time.
- Drop your photo onto the box, or click to choose it from your phone or computer. HEIC photos from iPhones work too.
- If the form asks for exact pixels (such as 200 × 230 px), open More options and enter them.
- Press Download. Several photos? Use Download all to get a ZIP.
What is a 100KB image used for?
- Online forms and portals with a 100KB limit
- Email attachments that open quickly on phones
- KYC and document photos
- Website images and blog thumbnails
Best dimensions for a 100KB photo
For a sharp result at 100KB, aim for about 1000–1200 px on the longest side. 100KB is enough for a clear photo at around 1000 px wide, which looks sharp on phones and laptops. Documents photographed on a phone also fit easily if you crop away the background first.
How the compression works
The tool first tries the highest JPG quality. If the file is too big, it finds the highest quality that fits in 100KB; only if that isn’t enough does it reduce the width and height, a little at a time. You get the largest, sharpest image that is still under the limit, never a file that a form would reject for being one byte too big.
Tips for application forms
- Read the form’s rules: most give a range such as 20–50 KB and sometimes exact pixel dimensions.
- Choose a size a little under the maximum, for example 45 KB for a 50 KB limit.
- Use a plain, light background and good light: plain backgrounds compress far better than busy ones.
- Crop signatures closely and scan them on white paper so they stay crisp at 10–20 KB.
- Save as JPG unless the form says otherwise; it is accepted everywhere.

Frequently asked questions
How do I compress an image to 100KB?
Drop your photo onto the box above (or click to choose it). The size is already set to 100KB, so it is compressed straight away; press Download to save the JPG. To fit an exact shape, enter the width and height in pixels under the settings.
How can I reduce a photo to 100KB without losing quality?
The tool keeps the highest JPG quality that fits in 100KB and only reduces the dimensions when it has to. For the sharpest result, crop away anything you don’t need first and use a plain background: less detail means more quality left for what matters. Recommended size at 100KB: about 1000–1200 px on the longest side.
How do I compress a JPEG to 100KB?
Drop the JPEG onto the box above with the size set to 100KB. The tool keeps the highest JPEG quality that fits and only reduces the dimensions if it has to. Most phone photos end up around 1000–1200 px wide and look clean.
Why is my image a little smaller than 100KB?
The tool picks the highest quality that stays at or below 100KB, because forms reject files that are even one byte over. Here 1KB = 1,024 bytes (100KB = 102,400 bytes), as most upload forms count it. If a site counts 1KB as 1,000 bytes, choose a size about 3% smaller to be safe.
Can I compress PNG, HEIC or WebP images too?
Yes. You can drop JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF and iPhone HEIC photos. They are saved as JPG, which every form accepts, or as WebP if you choose it. Transparent areas in PNGs are filled with white.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser on your own device, so photos of your face, ID or documents are never sent to a server. It even works offline once the page has loaded.
