How to make a favicon
Type a letter or paste an emoji, choose colors and corner rounding, or upload your logo. The preview shows every size, including how it looks in a browser tab. Download the ZIP, put the files in your site’s root folder, and paste the HTML snippet into your page’s <head>.
Frequently asked questions
Which favicon files does a website need in 2026?
A favicon.ico (16, 32 and 48 px) for older browsers and tools, a 180 px apple-touch-icon.png for iPhone home screens, and 192 and 512 px PNGs listed in a web manifest for Android. This generator creates all of them.
What image works best?
A square image at least 512 × 512 px with a simple shape. Fine detail and small text disappear at 16 px, so a bold letter or symbol usually works better than a full logo.
How do I add the favicon to my site?
Unzip the files into your website’s root folder and paste the HTML snippet into the <head> of your pages. Browsers cache favicons heavily, so a hard refresh may be needed to see the change.
