What counts as a word?
Any run of letters or numbers. Hyphenated words like “well-known” count as one, and languages without spaces, such as Chinese and Japanese, are split using your browser’s built-in language rules.
How is reading time calculated?
Reading time assumes 238 words per minute, the average for adult silent reading. Speaking time assumes 150 words per minute, a typical presentation pace.
Does the character count include spaces?
The main count includes spaces. “No spaces” shows the count without any spaces, tabs or line breaks. Emoji and accented letters each count as one character.
Is my text stored or uploaded?
